Gaddafi

Muammar Gaddafi was born on 7 June 1942 in Qasr Abu Hadi, a rural agricultural area situated just outside Sirte. According to Gaddafi, his paternal grandfather, Abdessalam Bouminyar, fought in opposition to the Italian employment of Libya and died as the "first martyr in Khoms, in the first battle of 1911".
In 1990s, the association between Qaddafi and the West began to thaw. As Qaddafi faced a increasing danger from Islamists who contrasting his rule, he began to share propensity information with the British and American intelligence services. In 1994, Nelson Mandela influenced the Libyan leader to hand over the suspects from the Lockerbie bombing. It wasn't long before Qaddafi had mended relations with the West almost entirely.
When it came to his personal life, Gadhafi was best known for his famous staff of female bodyguards. The primary requirement for aspiring candidates, apart from being female, was that one ought to be a virgin. Some say that he demanded their sexual favors as well. Unlike usual bodyguards, these "special" bodyguards were always decked up, fair high heels and designer sunglasses.
Gadhafi had a "bulletproof" tent lacking which he would on no account travel. He always brought a bit of the desert with him, camping out in the world's capitals. The tent was apparently so heavy that it needed to be flown on a separate plane, wherever he travelled. It didn't stop with that; Gadhafi would often tether a camel or two outside the tent.
They were all, apparently, graduates of the Tripoli Women's Military Academy, an "elite" institution Gadhafi founded in 1979. Their everyday schedule seemingly was: waking up at 4:30am, 90 minutes of jogging and then classes, mostly centered on killing techniques. Most of them were experts in flying fighter jets and handtohand combats. They were all, reportedly, handpicked by Gadhafi himself. All of them took an oath to protect Gadhafi to the death  and refuse both marriage and sex.
Qaddafi was welcomed in Western capitals, and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi counted him among his close friends. Qaddafi's son and heir evident, Seif alIslam Qaddafi, mixed with London's high society for several years. Many critics of the newborn friendship of Qaddafi and the West believed it was based on oil. In 2001, the United Nations eased sanctions on Libya, and foreign oil companies worked out rewarding new contracts to operate in Libya. The arrival of money to Libya made Gaddafi and his family and acquaintances even wealthier, and the disparity between the ruling family and the masses ever more apparent.
By his changing policies aiming to stand him out as an Arab leader, Gaddafi destabilized African countries, insulted Palestinian and Arab leaders, something that improved his negotiations with Israel. However, he did not support Sadam Hussein during the Gulf War of 1991.
Among his political “brilliant ideas” –apart from his Green Book, he tried to enter into an alliance with countries such as Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria or Marocco, in order to become leader of some United States of Africa.
Libya’s income from oil allowed him to carry out all kind of extravagances and interventions in neighbouring countries during the different Chadian wars.
On Thursday, October 20, Libyan officials announced the death of Muammar alQaddafi near his hometown of Surt. Early reports had conflicting accounts of his death, while some said he was killed in a gun battle, and others said he was targeted by a NATO aerial attack. Video circulated of Qaddafi's bloodied body being dragged around by fighters.
For months, Qaddafi and his family had been at large, whispered to be beating in the western part of the country, where they still had small pockets of support. As news of the former dictator's death spread, Libyans poured into the streets, celebrating the what many hailed as the culmination of their transformation.

According to the 2011 Forbes Global 2000 list, AIG was the 29th-largest public company in the world. It was listed on the Dow Jones Industrial Average from April 8, 2004 to September 22, 2008.
Last year, A.I.G. posted a loss of nearly $2.7 billion for the second quarter, harmed by a $3.3 billion accounting charge tied to the sale of a major international life insurance unit. Since then, the insurer has shed additional businesses and, perhaps most important, begun selling down the government’s controlling equity stake.
Still, much of the quarter’s gain came from its stake in American International Assurance, the big Asian life insurer that the company took public in 2010. A.I.G. earned $1.5 billion from its holdings in the unit.
For the quarter, the company earned $1.8 billion, or $1 a share. On an after-tax operating income basis, which excludes additional profit from discontinued businesses as well as accounting charges tied to its overhaul, A.I.G. earned 69 cents a share. That fell short of the 92-cent average consensus estimate of analysts, according to Thomson Reuters.

Mortgage

More than 75%  of Americans age 65 and elder own their own home.
However, for many people approaching retirement, a key decision on the
path to financial security will be whether to pay off their current mortgage,
to look for a mortgage with better financial terms, to get a new mortgage for
their current home, or to buy a new home.
What is Mortgage ?
A mortgage is a long-term loan issued by a bank or another lender. Many lenders require you to pay a down payment of 20 percent of the value of the home. The remainder 80 percent is what you will need to take out as a loan. When you make a payment, the money goes toward two basic expenses:
• The principal, which is the dollar amount you have borrowed; and
• The interest, which you pay at a specific rate,
such as 6 percent per year. Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI), another cost associated with a mortgage loan, is usually required if the down payment is less than 20 percent. These tax tips may help you answer questions about your mortgage.
In addition to the principal and interest, you can usually also arrange to have real estate taxes and property insurance payments rolled into your mortgage payment, so you don’t have to pay them separately. The lender holds these payments in an escrow account and then pays the bills when they come due.
In the first years of a mortgage, most of your payment is interest. The closer you get to paying it off, more of your payments go toward the principal.
Should You Have a Mortgage?
When deciding whether to have a mortgage as you
approach retirement, consider these two key financial issues:
• Will you be able to afford the payments—as well as utilities, maintenance and insurance on your home—after you retire, when your income will probably go down?
• Will having a mortgage offer you a significant tax deduction?
Types of Mortgages
If you decide that getting a new mortgage or refinancing your current one makes sense for you, learn how the different types work. Before signing any papers, be sure you get the following information on the mortgage in writing before closing:
• Accurate estimates of the closing costs and fees;
• The exact amount you’ll need to pay every month; and
• whether the payment can go up, and if so, by how much.
In the past, a typical mortgage required a 20 percent down payment, lasted for about 30 years and had a “fixed” interest rate that never changed. But in recent years, many new complicated versions have come on the market. They are often tempting because the payments start out low. But they can be risky, because over time the payments can go up a lot. Here are some examples of other types of mortgages:
ARM: With an Adjustable-Rate Mortgage (ARM), you have a certain number of years to pay off the loan. But the interest rate can change, so you may end up paying more or less than you expected. Take the case of a 20-year ARM with an interest rate of 6 percent for five years. After five years, the lender has the right to change the rate, using a formula that is based on financial factors, such as the interest rate on Treasury bills. Usually the rate cannot go up more than 2 percent a year, say from 6 percent to 8 percent. In this example, if you moved out of the property in five years, there would be no risk of higher payments. But if you planned to live in the property for 20 more years, your payment could go up quite a bit. Interest-Only Mortgage: With an interest-only mortgage for the first few years of the loan you only pay the accrued interest. You put off reducing any of the principal amount you owe. Let’s say you take out a 20-year mortgage. For the first five years your payment is very low because it covers only the interest. After five years, you must start paying both interest and principal. So for the next 15 years your payment could increase dramatically to make up for not paying any principal for the first five years. If you are not certain what your future income will be, this type of mortgage could be very risky. Balloon Mortgage: This type of mortgage offers lower payments for a certain number of years, for example seven years. After that, you must pay the entire balance of the loan in one lump sum. Don’t sign up for this type of mortgage unless you can count on having a big chunk of money on hand when it comes due.
Reverse Mortgage: If you are 62 or older, this may be a way to help with expenses. You get a new mortgage and instead of making monthly payments, the bank gives you money as a lump sum, monthly payment, or line of credit. The mortgage has to be paid when you move, sell, or die. This is a complicated financial transaction and can be expensive, so make sure you understand all the pros and cons before agreeing to it.
Sub-Prime Mortgage: People with serious credit problems may be unable to get a mortgage on typical market terms. Sub-prime mortgages carry much higher interest rates, penalties and other disadvantageous terms because the lender considered you a credit risk.

Life Insurance in India

Life insurance is a agreement that pledges payment of an amount to the person assured or his nominee on the incident of the event insured against. Life insurance is also grate type of savings
Life Insurance in its current form came to India from England in the year 1818. Oriental Life Insurance Company in progress by Europeans in Calcutta was the first life insurance company in  Indian. All the insurance companies recognized during that period were brought up with the purpose of looking after the needs of European community and Indian peoples were not being insured by these companies. However, afterward with the hard work of reputed people like Babu Muttylal Seal, the foreign life insurance companies started insuring Indian people. But Indian people were being treated as sub-standard lives and heavy extra premiums were being charged on them. Bombay Mutual Life Assurance Society heralded the birth of first Indian life insurance company in the year 1870, and enclosed Indian people at standard rates. Starting as Indian venture with extremely loyal motives, insurance companies came into existence to carry the message of insurance and social security through insurance to various sectors of society.
Bharat Insurance Company (1896) was also one of such companies motivated by nationalism. The Swadeshi movement of 1905-1907 gave rise to more insurance companies. The United India in Madras, National Indian and National Insurance in Calcutta and the Co-operative Assurance at Lahore were reputable in 1906. In 1907, Hindustan Co-operative Insurance Company took its birth in one of the rooms of the Jorasanko, house of the great poet Rabindranath Tagore, in Calcutta. The Indian Mercantile, General Assurance and Swadeshi Life were some of the companies recognized during the same period. Prior to 1912 India had no legislation to regulate insurance business. In the year 1912, the Life Insurance Companies Act, and the Provident Fund Act were passed. The Life Insurance Companies Act, 1912 made it essential that the premium rate tables and periodical valuations of companies should be certified by an actuary. But the Act discriminated between foreign and Indian companies on many accounts, putting the Indian companies at a difficulty.
Some of the important milestones in the life insurance business in India are:
• 1818: Oriental Life Insurance Company, the first life insurance company in Indian.
• 1870: Bombay Mutual Life Assurance Society, the first Indian life insurance company started its business.
• 1912: The Indian Life Assurance Companies Act enacted as the first statute to control the life insurance business.
• 1928: The Indian Insurance Companies Act enacted to enable the government to collect arithmetical information about both life and non-life insurance businesses.
• 1938: Earlier legislation consolidated and amended to by the Insurance Act with the objective of shielding the interests of the insuring public.
• 1956: 245 Indian and foreign insurers and provident societies are taken over by the central government and nationalized. LIC formed by an Act of Parliament, viz. LIC Act, 1956, with a capital contribution of Rs. 5 crore from the Government of India.
• The General insurance business in India, on the other hand, can trace its roots to the Triton Insurance Company Ltd., the first general insurance company established in the year 1850 in Calcutta by the British.

Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda was born in 3, Shimla Pally, Calcutta on 12 January 1863, Monday at 6:49 A.M. During the Makara Sankrantifestival in a conventional Kayastha family, and was given the name Narendranath Dutta. His father Viswanath Dutta was an legal representative of Calcutta High Court. He was considered freethinking, and had a liberal and progressive outlook in social and religious matters. His mother Bhuvaneshwari Devi was religious and had practiced austerities and prayed to Vireshwar Shiva of Varanasi to give her a son. She supposedly had a dream in which Shiva rose from his thought and said that he would be born as her son.
Even as a child Narendra had great respect for sannyasis or
ascetics. He would give away anything to anybody if asked for. On
his birthday, he would wear new clothes, wouldn't he? If a beggar asked for aims he would give away the new clothes. From that
day, his mother would lock him up in a room whenever a beggar
passed by the house. But every beggar knew Narendra's nature
very well. So beggars would stand near the window of Narendra's
room. He would throw to them anything he had. The spirit of
sacrifice and renunciation was already blossoming in him. In her
leisure time his mother would tell him the story of the Ramayana.
He could not sleep unless she told him a story. Then he would be
all ears, forgetting his study and play. He had great reverence
for Lord Hanuman. Once he sat before the idol of Lord Shiva,
with his body all smeared with ash. His perplexed mother asked
him, "Naren, what's all this?" He smiled and said, "Mother, I'm
the Lord Shiva." The mother feared that her son would become a
sannyasi, like his grandfather.
During his formative years he developed extraordinary mental abilities which some people either misunderstood or ignored, but which others appreciated and took as signs of an outstanding individual. As a child he liked to play at meditation and would Completed his university education in 1956 and took final monastic vows with the Ramakrishna Order in 1966. He has served in several educational institutions run by the Order – as headmaster, principal or secretary – besides doing some rural development work. In 1983 the Swami became a trustee of the Ramakrishna Order, and is now head of the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Calcutta. His research work on Sri Ramakrishna and the history of the Order is well recognized. He has written fourteen books in Bengali and three in English, besides contributing many articles to various journals
Narendra was Ramakrishna's favourite disciple. But he would not
accept as gospel truth all that Narendra said. Narendra was
highly critical of people who worshipped idols. He rejected the
theory of "Advaita" (Monism). He had no faith in mystic
experiences. Advaitic assertions such as "I am Brahman", "I am
Shiva- did not impress Narendra. But Sri Ramakrishna would
always bring him back to the right path by saying, "There are
many roads to reach a destination. No one has the right to say
that the path the other man takes is not the right one. It is
improper to pass judgement on anything that one does not
understand."
In 1884, Narendra passed the B. A. degree examination. A friend
of his hosted a party. As Narendra was singing at the party, the
news of his father's death came like a bolt from the blue.
Poverty hit the family immediately after the father's death. The
money-lenders began to harass the family. Some of them even
went to a court of law. Narendra wandered far and wide looking
for a job. His clothes were tattered and torn; and it was difficult
even to get one meal a day. Many a day he fasted so that -his
mother and his brothers and sisters might have something to eat.
He would tell them that he had eaten with a friend. Sometimes he
would faint with hunger and fall down in the street. But in spite
of such overwhelming misfortune he never lost faith in God. Sri
Ramakrishna would console him saying "You are here to serve
mankind and do mother Kali's work. You should be brave."
Vivekananda died at ten minutes past nine P.M. on July 4, 1902 while he was meditating. According to his disciples, this was Mahasamadhi. Afterward, his disciples recorded that they had noticed "a little blood" in the Swami's nostrils, about his mouth and in his eyes. The doctors remarked that it was due to the rupture of a blood-vessel in the brain, but they could not find the real cause of the death. According to his disciples, Brahmarandhra — the aperture in the crown of the head — must have been pierced when he attained Mahasamadhi. Vivekananda had fulfilled his own prophecy of not living to be forty years old.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie Voight was born on 4 June 1975 in Los Angeles, California. Her father Jon Voight was an recognized Hollywood actor, who had earned worldwide fame for his performances in 'Midnight Cowboy', 'Deliverance' and 'Coming Home' - the latter winning him an Oscar. Angelina’s mother was the part-Iroquois, part-French actress and model Marcheline Bertrand, who now, incidentally, works as Angelina’s manager. Angelina’s parents break up up before she was two-years-old, and her mother moved back to the East Coast with Angelina and her brother James, where they lived in the Palisades, in the state of New York.
Angelina Jolie married with Jonny Lee Miller on March 28, 1996 and divorced on February 3, 1999. After that she remarried with American actor Billy Bob Thornton on May 5, 2000. In 2003 on May 27 they separate out form each other. in early 2005 she was in relationship with Brad Pitt during filming of the spy comedy Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
At school, she coupled a gang called the Kissy Girls, who hunted boys down and kissed them until they begged for mercy - until the school called a stop and the gang broke up! Money was tight whilst Angelina was growing up, but Marcheline made a point of taking her children to the movies as often as possible. Angelina claims that these family movie outings were what first inspired her to dream of becoming an actress.
When Angelina was 11, the family moved back to Los Angeles. Angelina decided to get serious about her dream of becoming an actress and enrolled for acting lessons at the prestigious drama academy, the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. But she didn’t enjoy her years at Beverly Hills High School, where she was constantly teased for wearing glasses and braces and for being so skinny. She also tried to get work as a model, but was turned down for being too short, too thin and too scarred. The teasing and rejection she experienced during her early teenage years had a disastrous effect on her sense of self-esteem, and at the age of 14, she dropped out of high school. She dyed her hair purple, moved in with her punk rocker boyfriend, adopted a Gothic dress code of black, black and more black - but more seriously, began to self-harm and cut herself. She even once asked her boyfriend to draw a blade along her jaw line - and still has a faint scar to mark the occasion.
At the age of 16, Angelina split up with her punk rocker boyfriend, and decided to revive her childhood dreams of becoming an actress. She moved into an apartment opposite her mother, and secured her first on-stage role, as a German S&M dominatrix! For the first time ever, she also began to make the peace with her father. She realised that when it came to acting, he had a great deal to teach her. With her braces and glasses gone, she even succeeded in landing work as a model, and even appeared in the video for Meat Loaf’s 'Rock’n’Roll Dreams Come Through'. She also appeared in promo videos for Lenny Kravitz and the Rolling Stones.
In the 1990s, Angelina Jolie became a popular actress. She gave a star-making performance in the 1998 television film Gia based on the short, tragic life of model Gia Marie Carangi, which won her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
Another great dramatic role in Girl, Interrrupted (1999) brought Jolie her first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has continued to take on a variety of interesting roles, such as an adventurer in the Lara Croft films, a FBI profiler in Taking Lives (2004), an assassin in Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005), and a neglected, troubled socialite wife in The Good Shepherd (2006).
In 2007, Jolie gave a brilliant performance as Mariane Pearl, the pregnant widow of Wall Street Journal reporter Danny Pearl, in A Mighty Heart. The film was based on Mariane Pearl's account of her husband's abduction and murder.

Isaac Newton

Isaac Newton was born at Woolsthorpe close to Grantham on 25 December 1642. His father died before he was born and in 1645 his mother marred a clergyman from North Welham in Leicestershire. She went to live with him while Isaac Newton lived with his grandmother. When her second husband died in 1656 Isaac’s mother returned to Woolsthorpe and Isaac Newton went to live with her again.
From the age of 12 to 14 Isaac Newton went to Grantham Grammar School. During this time he wedged with an apothecary and his family. Then in 1659 Isaac had to leave to help his mother on the family farm. Isaac Newton was not in the smallest amount bit concerned in running a farm and in 1660 he went to the grammar school again. In 1661 he went to Trinity College Cambridge.
Having obtained his degree, the university was closed for two years (1665 and 1666) as a result of the plague, and Newton was forced to return home to continue his studies on his own. These two years turned out to be the most productive and inventive for Newton, and he laid the foundations of his later scientific breakthroughs, such as his theories on planetary motion (leading to the publication of his Principia in 1687), light and color, and certain aspects of calculus. Physical scientists also during this time that his famous yet anecdotal experience with the falling apple occurred, and his thinking turned towards gravity as a force previously neglected it.
In 1667 Isaac Newton was nominated a fellow of Trinity College. The same year he was designated a member of the Royal Society. In February 1672 a paper he wrote about light and colors was read to the society. In 1669 Isaac Newton became Lucasian professor of mathematics. In the meantime, in 1668, he invented a reflecting telescope.
In 1689-1690 Isaac Newton was MP for Cambridge University (in those days Cambridge University had its own MPs). He became an MP again in 1701-1702 but he did not take an active part in politics.
Isaac Newton published his masterwork Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematics in 1687. It set out his theory of significance and his laws of motion.
In 1695 Isaac Newton was made Ward of the mint and in 1699 Master of the mint. He resigned his fellowship and professorship at Cambridge in 1701.
In 1703 Isaac Newton became president of the Royal Society. He was knighted in 1705.
Meanwhile in 1704 Isaac Newton published another great work about light.
Isaac Newton died at the age of 84 on 20 March 1727.
In terms of mechanics, Newton's Principia is a cornerstone of modern physics. The first book in the series illustrates and explains Newton's three laws of motion, namely:
1) Without the influence of forces, a body at rest will remain so, and a body moving in a straight line at constant velocity will continue to do so at that constant velocity, indefinitely (the law of inertia).
2) A body will accelerate if a force is applied to it, according to F = ma.
3) Forces occur in pairs, with both forces having equal magnitudes but opposite directions. This law is usually simplified to read: "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction".

Bill Gates

William (Bill) H. Gates III is co-founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Microsoft Corporation, the world's most important provider of software for personal computers.
Bill Gates was born on October 28, 1955. He and his two sisters grew up in Seattle. Their father, William H. Gates II, is a Seattle attorney. Mary Gates, their late mother, was a schoolteacher, University of Washington regent and chairwoman of United Way International.
Gates attended public simple school before moving on to the personal Lakeside School in North Seattle. It was at Lakeside that Gates began his career in personal computer software, programming computers at age 13.
In 1973, Gates entered Harvard University as a freshman, where he lived down the hall from Steve Ballmer, who is now Microsoft's president. While at Harvard, Gates developed a version of the programming language BASIC for the first microcomputer - the MITS Altair. BASIC was first developed by John Kemeny and Thomas Kurtz at Dartmouth College in the mid-1960s. In his subordinate year, Gates dropped out of Harvard to dedicate his energies full-time to Microsoft, a company he had going ahead in 1975 with his boyhood friend Paul Allen. Guided by a belief that the personal computer would be a valuable tool on every office desktop and in every home, they began developing software for personal computers.
Gates' forethought and vision regarding personal computing have been central to the success of Microsoft and the software industry. Gates is actively involved in key management and strategic decisions at Microsoft, and plays an important role in the technical development of new products. Much of his time is devoted to meeting with customers and staying in contact with Microsoft employees around the world through e-mail.
Under Gates' management, Microsoft's mission is constantly to advance and progress software technology, and to make it easier, more cost-effective and more enjoyable for people to use computers. The company is dedicated to a long-term view, which is reflected in its investment of some $2.6 billion for research and development during the current fiscal year.
In 1995 Gates wrote The Road Ahead, his vision of where information technology will take society. Co-authored by Nathan Myhrvold, Microsoft's chief technology officer, and Peter Rinearson, The Road Ahead held the No. 1 spot on the New York Times' bestseller list for seven weeks, and remained on the list for a total of 18 weeks. Published in more than 20 countries, the book sold more than 400,000 copies in China alone.
In 1996, while strategically redeploying Microsoft to take advantage of the emerging opportunities created by the Internet, Gates thoroughly revised The Road Ahead to reflect his view that interactive networks are a major milestone in human communication. The paperback second edition also has become a bestseller. Gates is donating his proceeds from the book to a non-profit fund that supports teachers worldwide who are incorporating computers into their classrooms.
In addition to his enthusiasm for computers, Gates is attracted in biotechnology. He sits on the board of the ICOS Corporation and is a shareholder in Chiroscience Group of the United Kingdom and its wholly owned subsidiary, Chiroscience R&D Inc. (formerly Darwin Molecular) of Bothell, Wash. He also founded Corbis Corporation, which is developing one of the largest resources of visual information in the world - a comprehensive digital archive of art and photography from public and private collections around the globe. Gates also has invested with cellular telephone pioneer Craig McCaw in Teledesic, a company that is working on an ambitious plan to launch hundreds of low-orbit satellites around the Earth to provide a worldwide two-way broadband telecommunications service.

Larry Page

Larry Page was born on 26 March 1973 in Lansing, Michigan. Larry Page's father was a professor of computer science at Michigan State and his mother, Gloria, also taught computer programming. The Page family home was full of first-generation personal computers and scientific magazines, and young Larry, as he was called, immersed himself in them. Significantly, his older brother, Carl Page, Jr., also became a successful Internet entrepreneur.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin are the founder of the search engine Google. Larry Page earned his B.S.E. in 1995 and then motivated on to graduate school at Stanford University. There he began to generate and evaluate his own catalogue of Internet links and was joined by Brin, a fellow Stanford grad student he met in 1995. Together they wrote the paper "The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hyper textual Web Search Engine" and created their own search engine, at first known as Backrub and then in 1998 officially integrated as Google. It was quickly extremely popular. Google became a public company in 2004, making Page and Brin billionaires at age 27. The company brought in Eric Schmidt as CEO in 2001, and he ran the company in a triumvirate with Page and Brin for the next successful decade as Google became the most-used search engine on the planet. During those years, Larry Page had the title of co-founder and president of products. Google announced in 2011 that Larry Page would take over as CEO of Google, with Schmidt becoming executive chairman.
Page married Lucinda Southworth at Richard Branson's Caribbean island, Necker Island in 2007. Southworth is a research scientist and sister of actress and model Carrie Southworth. He has one child.
Page is an energetic investor in alternative energy companies, such as Tesla Motors, which developed the Tesla Roadster, a 244-mile (393 km) range battery electric vehicle. He continues to be dedicated to renewable energy technology, and with the help of Google.org, Google's philanthropic arm, promotes the agreement of plug-in hybrid electric cars and other alternative energy investments.

Steve Job

Steven Paul Jobs was co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. Steve Jobs was co-founder and formerly served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios. Steven Paul Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco and adopted at birth by Paul Jobs and Clara Jobs. Clara worked as an accountant and Paul was a Coast Guard veteran and machinist. The family lived in Mountain View within California's Silicon Valley. As a boy, Jobs and his father would work on electronics in the family garage.
After high school, Jobs enrolled at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Deficient direction, he dropped out of college after six months and used up the next 18 months reducing in on creative classes. Jobs later recounted how one course in calligraphy developed his love of typography. In 1976, when Jobs was just 21, he and Wozniak started Apple Computers. The twosome started in the Jobs family garage, and funded their entrepreneurial venture after Jobs sold his Volkswagen bus and Wozniak sold his beloved scientific calculator.
Their first model, the Apple I, earned them $774,000. Three years after the release of their second model, the Apple II, sales improved 700 percent to $139 million dollars. In 1980, Apple Computer became a publically traded company with a market value of $1.2 billion on the very first day of trading. Steve Jobs looked to marketing expert John Scully of Pepsi-Cola to help fill the role of Apple's President.
However, the next a number of products from Apple suffered momentous design flaws resulting in recalls and consumer disenchantment. IBM suddenly surpassed Apple sales, and Apple had to compete with an IBM/PC dominated business world. Scully believed Jobs was hurting Apple, and executives began to point him out. In 1985, Jobs resigned as Apple's CEO to begin a new hardware and software company called NeXT, Inc. The following year Jobs purchased an animation company from George Lucas, which later became Pixar Animation Studios.
Despite Pixar's success, NeXT, Inc. floundered in its attempts to sell its specialized operating system to mainstream America. Apple eventually bought the company in 1997 for $429 million. That same year, Jobs returned to his post as Apple's CEO. Much like Steve Jobs instigated Apple's success in the 1970s; he is credited with revitalizing the company in the 1990s. With a new management team, altered stock options, and a self-imposed annual salary of $1 a year, Jobs put Apple back on track. His ingenious products such as the iMac, effective branding campaigns, and stylish designs caught the attention of consumers once again.
In 2003, Jobs discovered he had a neuroendocrine tumor, a rare but operable form of pancreatic cancer. Instead of immediately opting for surgery. In August 2011, Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple, but remained at the company as chairman of the company's board
On October 5, 2011, Apple Inc. announced that co-founder Steve Jobs had died. He was 56 years old at the time of his death.
Apple introduced such innovative products as the Macbook Air, iPod, iPad and iPhone, all of which have dictated the advancement of modern technology.
